May the Fourth Be with You! It’s wonderful how effectively the Saga spans generations. My five year old and I are top class Star Wars nerds. Equally exciting is the fact that Hollywood Studios singlehandedly gave us a reason to create a tradition of celebrating Star Wars Day in full. This was our second annual Star Wars Day adventure at Hollywood Studios. We went as a Vader duo, many compliments! (If my Vader dress looks familiar, you saw me wear it also on Dapper Day this year.) My son has been studying Anakin Skywalker’s countenance, and it appears to show.
I had so much fun this year. My son’s favorite was meeting stormtroopers up close and personal. My favorite moments were playing with lightsabers and lighting and teaching him how to swing dance in the Chinese Theater courtyard (Benny Goodman was playing). Officially, I have an apprentice… not a Sith apprentice… a photographic one! I’ve never pushed photography on him, but he wanted to take my photos this time; all the shots of me are ones he took (except the dancing ones, which were taken by the Chinese Lion on timer.)
“Mommy, I want to be a great photographer like you.” Awe!
Happy Star Wars Day!
